We're busting at the seams! The Friends of the Leland Library will hold the 2nd Saturday book sale, October 14 from 10a - 2p at the Magnolia House II on Town Hall Drive in Leland. October will be our Member appreciation sale....if you are a "friend" of the library, EVERYTHING in the house is HALF-PRICE! If you are not a friend yet, sign up at the door and enjoy the savings! And wait there's more... we'll also be having our tent sale at the October sale. Lots of great deals on books

THIRD SATURDAY SALE

The FOLL sale for September will be on the THIRD Saturday, September 16, from 10a - 2p.  This sale we will feature all things multimedia - CDs, DVDs, books with CDs, computer games, etc.  Stock up now - at 50% off you won't want to miss it!  We also want to know "WHAT'S YOUR DEAL?! You get to choose!  Like Grisham? All Grisham books that you buy will be half off.  Enjoy gardening?  All gardening books you purchase will be half off. Everything else you purchase will be at our regular, super-low prices. So come on in and let us know "what's your deal!?"

AUGUST BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Leland Library will hold the monthly book sale Saturday, August 12 from 10a - 2p at the Magnolia House II on Town Hall Drive. For August we will feature our home-school section as well as the classics.  These will be our half price items just in time for school.  We will have teacher and parent resources, workbooks, kid's books, and many of the required reading novels.  If you are looking for something particular, go to the website and send us a note.  We'll keep an eye out for it and let you know when it comes in!

THE GREAT AMERICAN ECLIPSE OF 2017 by FRED MYERS

 

Join us to learn more on the upcoming Solar Eclipse taking place August 21, 2017.  
Fred Myers has been a science educator for over 44 years. After earning degrees in physics from SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Stony Brook, he served as a physics and astronomy teacher for 33 years in four different public and independent high schools (mostly in Connecticut), and served as science department chair for 14 of those years. Mr. Myers’ impact on science education has extended far beyond his work in the classroom. His contributions have been recognized by several national awards: The Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching, The Milken Family Foundation Educator Award, The Christa McAuliffe Fellowship Award, and the AAPT’s Janet Guernsey Award for Excellence in Physics Teaching.
Friends of the Leland Library will hold their second Saturday book sale on June 10 from 10a to 2p at the Magnolia House II on Town Hall Drive.

STUFF A BAG WITH PAPERBACKS FOR $8 IN MAY

The Friends of the Leland Library will hold the second Saturday monthly book sale Saturday, May 13 from 10a - 2p at the Magnolia House II on Town Hall Drive.  This month we our having our bag sale.  Fill a FOLL bag for $8.  Bags will be available for purchase at the sale. We also have many gift ideas for Mother's Day.
Are you a WWII history Buff?
The Friends of the Leland Library will sponsor a presentation on World War II in Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina by Wilbur Jones Jr.  Mr. Jones is an award-winning author and military historian..He writes, lectures and consults on World War II, military and defense issues, spearheads N.C. WWII history preservation accomplishments, and leads WWII battlefield tours to Europe and the Mediterranean, and in Southeastern N.C.
The presentation will take place Friday, April 28, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Leland Library Meeting Room.  Admission is $10 per person and all proceeds will benefit the Leland Library. Call or come by to pre-register at the Library, phone #371-9442.

CIVIL WAR PRESENTATION

The Friends of the Leland Library is pleased to announce a special presentation of Civil War History.  Mike Powell, President of the Brunswick Civil War Round Table will discuss "Sherman's March to the Sea...and Beyond."  The focus will be on the battles and impact of the Civil War in North Carolina.  Join us Friday, July 8, at 7p at the Brunswick Forest Community Commons building for this fundraising event.  Admission is $10 per person and space is limited.
